Appears to be attic fire from at least this vantage point. It wasnt until 6:30 that the IC asked whether anyone had gone inside. He then asks to have a primary search done. What caused such a delay in getting the first incident priority "life safety" ruled out. Looked like the first floor was very tenable, very small foorprint, and could have easily been searched in about a minute or two. They went straight to roof. IMO, first of all do a primary search, that is why you are there...period the fire comes secondary. Rule out victims. As crews make their way to roof have engine company make an opening big enough to put nozzle in from inside or even outside structure, narrow fog, acts just like a high performance sprinkler head, indirect steam quench, then open up the roof. Again, I see an obsession with roof work.
